Head Coach:
Georgijs Rogolevs
Experience:
George has dedicated himself to studying martial arts for the past 15years, specifically focused on Submission Grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Judo. He has had some fantastic opportunities that have allowed him to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This was with "Alliance", which is one of the most accomplished Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies in the world. The home gym of world famous martial artists such as Demian Maia, Ronaldo "Jacare" de Souza and Sergio Moraes to name few...
While in Brazil, he trained alongside some world class athletes, sharing techniques and working together to problem solve the art of Jiu Jistu. These included Fabio Gurgel, Paulo Jose Pinto, Michael Langhi and many others.
From 2016, George has studied under the guidance of South England's most accomplished grappler Tolly Plested. Alongside Oliver Thompson (ex British Strongest Man, Bellator and UFC veteran), Alex Salisbury (British National Grappling Champion, NAGA Absolute Champion), River O’Calagham (British National Grappling Champion), Matt Langridge (European BJJ Champion) and others.
Students:
George has had major input in developing some of the greatest local grapplers such as Joe Watson (Tuff Grappling Championship gold medalist), Nikodem Janik (NAGA British Champion), Edward Gribbon (English No-Gi Grappling Absolute Champion), Steven Hill (British No-Gi Grappling Champion), Aleksandrs Putjatins (English and British No-Gi Grappling Champion), Lewis Weeks (Juvenile English BJJ Champion).
Competitions:
George has always been fascinated with the idea of going against heavier opponents, by using leverage and technique. After working hard to find the best techniques to do this, he put this to the test and won the IBJJF European Championships in Ultra Heavyweight division with his final opponent being 66 pounds heavier than George.
George has had well over 200 competitive matches and won over 30 grappling tournaments, including the English and British Grappling Championships and European IBJJF Championship. Whilst he is still an active competitor, he focuses majority of his time at competitions to supporting his students during their matches.
Participating in competitive sports from very young age, he has learned the value of hard work, dedication, discipline, respect, loyalty and patience to name few of the benefits you can gain from participation in his martial arts program!
